Good Leaders are Creators, Not Critics

I read an interesting article the other day about leadership.  The article got me to think about my role as a leader in a different way than I previously had.  Often we fall into the rut of thinking of leaders as “the boss” or “the manager”.  As managers, we encourage the rut by judging and criticizing the actions of our team without regard for how that judgement might affect the team as a whole.

I, for one, have fallen into that rut from time to time.  I have offered criticism without offering solutions.  I have offered judgement without lending a helping hand.

What do good leaders do?

Good leaders inspire their team through engagement.  Good leaders help their team find creative solutions to the challenges they face.  Good leaders are creators.

Are you a good leader?
